As stated in its code of conduct, WashU is committed to the highest ethical and professional standards of conduct. To achieve this goal, the university relies on each member of the university community to transact university business in compliance with all laws, regulations and university policies related to their positions and areas of responsibility, as well as on their behavior, honesty, integrity and good judgment.
Tobacco-Free
In an effort to provide a healthy, comfortable and productive work and learning environment for students, faculty and staff, all Washington University in St. Louis campuses are entirely smoke and tobacco free.
Sponsorship of WashU Academic Events
WashU welcomes sponsorships in the service of the University’s mission and principles, as well as in the service of collaboration to advance society at large. Support from external entities for sponsorships of conferences, symposiums and other events can enhance the University’s mission. The University also has an interest in protecting its name and reputation and the goodwill attached to them.
Social Media
These guidelines provide governance and guidance for WashU faculty, staff, and students who manage or wish to create social media accounts, campaigns, and strategies on behalf of the university.
Student Title IX Grievance Process
Formal complaints asserted against students under the University’s Discrimination and Harassment Policy or the Student Conduct Code alleging violations of Title IX are overseen by the Gender Equity and Title IX Compliance Office.
Research Conflicts of Interest
WashU is firmly committed to the responsible and ethical conduct of research. Members of the WashU community, including faculty, staff, students, and other trainees, are obligated with a shared responsibility to conduct themselves in a responsible, ethical, and unbiased manner while serving the research goals of the University.
Purchase Order Terms and Conditions
Unless specified to the contrary in writing, on the face of the order or by attachment hereto, the following terms and conditions shall apply to the purchase of the goods and/or services listed on a Purchase Order. WashU reserves the right to cancel all or selected line items of Purchase Order without penalty.

Public Access Policy is the requirement that investigators submit final peer-reviewed journal manuscripts that arise from NIH funds to the digital archive PubMed Central.
Privacy of Student Records (FERPA)
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects student educational record information.
