Joint Appointments (PDF)
Recognizing that the research and teaching interests of faculty often extend beyond the boundaries of a single discipline or school and that new knowledge can be created when interdisciplinary issues are addressed, WashU is committed to providing a structure and environment in which such efforts can thrive.
Flexible Work Arrangement (Including Remote Work and Telecommuting)
In general, the majority of employees at WashU perform their duties on-campus in support of our teaching, clinical and research operations. The University also recognizes that the utilization of flexible work arrangements offers advantages for both the University and our employees where these arrangements are operationally appropriate.
Equal Opportunity
WashU encourages and gives full consideration to all applicants for admission, financial aid, and employment. The university does not discriminate in access to, or treatment or employment in, its programs and activities on the basis of race, color, age, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, veteran status, disability or genetic information.
Drug and Alcohol
WashU is committed to maintaining a safe and healthful environment for members of the university community by promoting a drug-free environment as well as one free of the abuse of alcohol. Violations of this policy will be handled according to existing policies and procedures concerning the conduct of faculty, staff, and students.
Domestic Animal
In order to provide for the health, safety and welfare of all persons on property owned or controlled by WashU, the following rules are established to control domestic animals on university property. (Domestic animals are any dog, cat or tamed animal intended to be a pet or companion for a person).
Consensual Faculty-Student Relationships
When one partner to a consensual romantic, dating or sexual relationship holds a position of academic or professional authority with respect to the other partner in connection with their University roles, the potential may exist for favoritism, breach of trust, abuse of power, or conflicts of interest. Such situations may also raise questions concerning the consensual nature of the relationship.
