The goal of this policy is to provide a framework to resolve allegations of research misconduct as rapidly and fairly as possible and to protect the rights and integrity of all individuals involved.

This policy establishes institutional standards around external professional activities. It prescribes disclosure and review requirements, strategies for structuring external relationships and addresses potential conflicts of commitment.

Central to Washington University in St. Louis’ mission of fostering excellence in research is a commitment to ensure that all individuals responsible for the design, conduct and reporting of research involving human participants receive education in the protection of those participants that is appropriate and adequate to assure the ethical conduct of the research.

WashU is firmly committed to the responsible and ethical conduct of research. Members of the WashU community, including faculty, staff, students, and other trainees, are obligated with a shared responsibility to conduct themselves in a responsible, ethical, and unbiased manner while serving the research goals of the University.

Unless specified to the contrary in writing, on the face of the order or by attachment hereto, the following terms and conditions shall apply to the purchase of the goods and/or services listed on a Purchase Order. WashU reserves the right to cancel all or selected line items of Purchase Order without penalty.

Public Access Policy is the requirement that investigators submit final peer-reviewed journal manuscripts that arise from NIH funds to the digital archive PubMed Central.

Our institutional responsibility requires that any investigational drug or device is used in the manner intended by the research project, is stored under appropriate controlled conditions, and is used only by (on) subjects who have consented to participate in the research project.

Controlled substances must be purchased, stored, used and disposed of in accordance with extensive federal and state regulations.
